Ben had been talking about getting a specialist bass player for some time. I suspected he had Matt in mind and one day we got a nice surprise when Matt rocked up at practice. Things clicked with Matt very quickly. We already knew him and he was the same age with similar interests. Matt is really easy to talk to, so there was no awkwardness. I had already developed a good bond with Matt so I was thrilled to have him in the band. It was the start of a long journey that is still going 17 years later.
