One of the first things Elias and I started doing was learn how to record at home. I became aware of Audacity, the brilliant free recording software. I had quite an old computer but Audacity worked really well on it. Before long, Elias and I were regularly meeting up and recording demos of our songs. My keyboard had some basic drum beats, so we just recorded a standard 4/4 rock beat from that and recorded along to it. It was trial and error in those early days but we quickly got the basics. It was really cool, we felt like a real recording band with this capability. It was so much easier to home record than even a few years earlier. Being able to do this would serve us very well in the near future.
