I hung up the phone and started to think. Ben had officially left the band but Matt and Luke were still technically in. I didn't think we'd be good enough to play as a 3 piece so we needed another guitar player. We hadn't rehearsed up all that much material with Ben as the main guitarist so I wasn't sure if that lineup could get it together in a few days. My mind started drifting towards Chris. With him in the band we had a decent number of songs we could play. Chris had asked us not to play his material when I had told him he was out of the band, a wish we had respected. However, if he was willing to play the gig then we could use those songs and put something together. Also I thought Ben wouldn't be interested in playing because he had formally quit the band. I had barely spoken to Chris since the day I had told him he was out, so it was with a degree of nervousness that I dialled his number.
